Embedded Systems & IoT Development

We take connected products from proof of concept to working implementation: embedded firmware, device connectivity, cloud hosting and the apps and dashboards on top.

Building a connected product means getting hardware, firmware, networking, cloud and software to work together. Many teams have a strong idea and a working prototype, but struggle to turn it into something reliable enough to put in customers' hands.

INNOVISCENT is an embedded IoT development company that covers the whole chain. We prototype on boards such as Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi, write and test the firmware, connect devices securely to the cloud, and build the dashboards and apps that make the data useful.

Our QA background makes a difference in IoT. We test devices, backends and apps together, so problems are found on the bench rather than in the field. Clients such as Product Design Labs have worked with us to take a product from POC to implementation, using our experience with Arduino and AWS hosting.

Embedded and IoT Development

At a glance

  • Process: Proof of concept → Firmware → Connectivity & cloud → Production & support
  • Tools: C / C++, Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, MQTT
  • Industries: Product design, Smart devices, Industrial monitoring

Problems We Solve

  • Stuck at the prototype stage

A proof of concept works on the bench but isn't ready for real users. We harden the firmware, connectivity and cloud side for production.

  • Connecting devices securely

Devices need to send data reliably and safely. We set up authenticated, encrypted connections using standard protocols such as MQTT.

  • Data with nowhere to go

Sensor data is collected but not used. We store it in the cloud and build dashboards and alerts people can act on.

  • Hard-to-test products

Hardware, firmware and apps are tested separately. We test the whole system together, including failure cases like lost connectivity.

Our Process

  1. 1

    Proof of concept

We prototype on development boards to prove the idea, the sensors and the connectivity before any custom hardware is made.

  2. 2

    Firmware

We write and test embedded firmware in C/C++, with over-the-air update support where the product needs it.

  3. 3

    Connectivity & cloud

We connect devices to AWS IoT or your chosen platform, and build the backend, dashboards and mobile or web apps.

  4. 4

    Production & support

We harden the solution, run end-to-end tests and support devices in the field.

Tools & Technologies

Firmware is written in C and C++ for microcontrollers such as the ESP32 and Arduino family, with Raspberry Pi for gateway and edge computing tasks. Devices talk over Wi-Fi, BLE or cellular using MQTT and HTTP, and data flows into AWS IoT and other AWS services for storage, rules and dashboards.

Industries We Serve

  • Product design

Taking new connected products from idea to working implementation.

  • Smart devices

Consumer and commercial devices controlled from an app.

  • Industrial monitoring

Sensors that track machines, energy use or environmental conditions.

  • Healthcare devices

Connected devices that collect and share health data reliably.

Case study

From POC to implementation for Product Design Labs

The challenge

Product Design Labs needed to take a connected product from proof of concept to a full implementation, and needed a team with the right mix of embedded and cloud skills.

Our approach

Our team provided the people to carry the product from POC through to implementation, using Arduino on the device side and AWS for hosting.

The result

The client built an end-to-end solution, from device to cloud.

“Services provided by INNOVISCENT team were exemplary, they were able to take the product from POC to implementation with the right set of people. Their experience with Arduino and hosting in AWS helped us to build an end to end solution.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you take a product from proof of concept to implementation?

Yes. We cover the whole path: prototyping on development boards, embedded firmware, connectivity, cloud hosting and the apps or dashboards on top. You can bring us in at any stage, whether you have only an idea, a working prototype that needs hardening, or a product in the field that needs new features.

Which boards and platforms do you work with?

We regularly work with ESP32 and Arduino microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi for gateways and edge computing, and AWS IoT for device management and data. We choose hardware based on your power, cost, connectivity and volume needs, and we are happy to work with the boards or modules you have already selected.

Do you also test embedded and IoT products?

Yes. Testing is one of our core strengths. We combine QA automation with embedded development to test firmware, devices, cloud backends and apps together, including awkward cases such as lost connectivity, low battery and firmware updates. This catches problems on the bench instead of in customers' hands.

How do you keep IoT devices secure?

We use unique device credentials, encrypted connections, least-privilege cloud permissions and signed firmware updates where the hardware supports them. We avoid default passwords and open ports, and we test the device, the cloud backend and the companion app for common security weaknesses before launch.
